Week 14: Allah gives me sickness and cure

I think it was the longest week so far. Qadr of Allah that we were all sick when we did the lesson on sickness and cure. We were caught by the flu and it stayed longer this time. And in the middle of all that we visited my aunt. It was a long overdue visit. Every time we planned to visit her, the question came-how wise it would be to drive almost 10 hours with two kids. This time on Thanksgiving holiday we decided to go after doing istikhara and SubhanAllah Allah made the journey sooooooo easy (to our surprise!). All praise to Allah SWT for every moment we enjoyed and every yummy food we devoured.

Think aobut it ….no cooking, no cleaning for two whole days; Alhamdulillah it was a treat indeed. But the most important thing- it was so good to see my aunt and her family after a long time. RA was especially thrilled to visit new place. I was a little bit worried at first that she might get bored as nobody was at her age. But my cousin gave her so much time and played with her.  She was totally pampered by their love and affection. On the way back home she was crying aloud that she wanted to stay there.

We started our lesson hoping that we could finish it before the visit. But there were lots of things to cover. So we finished them this week finally Alhamdulillah. We talked about the fact all the time that only Allah can cure us. Doctor can only give medicine but the power to cure belongs only to our Lord.

To her it is fun to go to doctor’s office for regular check up, except the shot part. In our city’s children hospital, they made it that way for the kids. Every time they visit doctors they get some stickers, book, brush, paste etc. Same thing happens in our house (pretend). RA’s stuffed animal got sick, they were checked thoroughly and they got back home with many things with them.:)

We have learned why we get sick and how our body fights against germs, and who gives white cell in our blood to fight against those germs. These two books helped us to learn about two main germs- viruses and bacteria.

Our minibook is such a great addition to this-

She loved to do the activities.

I asked her the questions and she found the answer piece Alhamdulillah. She could not spell, yet she picked them as she knew what letter made what sound.

She writes when her mood is okay.

We printed two posters- one is how to wash your hands step by step. We taped it beside our sink and the other one was on when to wash our hands. This part of the lesson has started long time ago and I think we need to continue for a longer time as they forget to washing off the germs sometime and putting all kind of particles in their mouth.

Asmaul Husnah
Our sickness helped us to understand our lessons , whether it is for learning the dua or names of Allah. We asked Allah, Ash Shafee to cure us. We also learned Al-Afwuu -The One who pardons again and again.

Arabic alphabets:
I wrote the letters first and then she traced those again.

We also started reading letters with fatha.

Dua of the week:
We learned the dua we should recite when we are in pain.

Surah memorization:
RA is memorizing the last three ayah of surah Al-Hashr.
Stories of Prophets
We didn’t have any book on Ayyub Alyhissalam, so we printed the online version by Ibn Kathir and read it to her. At the end of the story I asked her what was dua Ayyub Alyhissalm said  and Alahmdulillah she said it whole- "Rabbi anni massaniadh durru waaanta Arhamar Raahimin". (21:83)
